SANDLER TOUR DEBUTS POWERFUL NEW SOUND RECORDING SYSTEM
AUDIENCES ADORE CRISPLY AMPLIFIED SOUND ON ADAM SANDLER TOUR
RRS Audio of Las Vegas debuted an L-Acoustics K2 line source array sound recording system last year, guaranteeing that audiences would enjoy the biggest bang for their buck as they sought entertainment from comedy genius Adam Sandler. While Lee Pepper, owner and operator of RRS Audio Productions, has toured with Sandler for the past 3 years, this was the first time he brought gear along with him on tour, as opposed to utilizing the equipment already provided by the venue.
This amazing new sound system supports:
- Main hangs of 32 total K2
- Outer hangs of 12 Kara on each side
- Short throw X12 wedges, for vocal monitoring
- LA-RAK II on each side (2) loading three LA12X amplified controllers powering the main system
- Separate rack driving monitors
- Considerably finer tuning for lower frequencies, which is perfect for spoken word
- Clearer and cleaner sound (which Sandler attends to in particular)
Working with entertainers is par for the course when you rig considerable sound recording systems as RRS Audio has been doing for over 15 years. The Emmy-nominated sound production company has carved out a reputation for themselves in the arena of live and corporate events over the years, and this past year’s Sandler tour is no exception.
While this setup has seen its share of use in an elaborate $25 million wedding and an ongoing gig at the Palms Casino Resort, the Sandler tour gave Pepper and his crew the opportunity to really stretch its legs and see how it would do on a massive coast-to-coast tour in amphitheaters and arenas in various climates and weather systems all over North America. As Pepper has stated, “These days, most rider-friendly systems can sound pretty decent if you spend enough time tuning, tweaking, and phasing. But I think with L-Acoustics speakers there’s just something more honest and natural sounding. K2 always sounds great and it’s been perfect for Adam; it’s the best.”
